Draft for review. Before launch these terms must be reviewed by a lawyer in the operating jurisdiction, and the company identity, governing law and dispute venue below must be completed.
1. Who you are contracting with
These terms are between you ("you", the customer) and YearShift, trading as DomainChapter ("we", "us"). Company identity, registered address and contact details are on our company page.
2. Accounts
You need an account to buy. Keep your credentials safe, keep a working recovery email on file, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for activity under your account. We ask for a recovery email before your first purchase for a specific reason: if your login email lives on a domain that expires, that recovery address is how you get back in.
3. Domain registrations
We are a reseller; registrations are sponsored by an ICANN-accredited registrar and are subject to ICANN policy, the sponsoring registrar's agreement, and each registry's own rules — including eligibility rules for restricted TLDs. Availability shown during search is a best-effort answer at that moment; a domain is only yours once the registry confirms it. If registration fails after payment, we refund that item automatically. See registrar disclosures.
4. Renewals and expiry
Auto-renew is on by default and can be switched off per domain. We send the required renewal reminders. Expiry, grace and redemption behaviour — and what each costs — is described on the renewal, grace and redemption page, which forms part of these terms.
5. Prices, taxes and payment
Prices are shown before you pay, including the renewal price, in the currency you will be charged. Taxes are added where applicable and shown at checkout. Wholesale costs and registry fees change; we may change prices for future terms, but we will never charge a renewal at a price we did not disclose before you bought.
6. Refunds
Per-product refund rules are on the refund policy page, which forms part of these terms.
7. Hosting and DNS
Hosting plans have stated limits — sites, storage, bandwidth. We enforce limits with hard caps and an upgrade prompt rather than surprise overage bills. DNS service is provided on a best-effort basis for the free tier; Advanced DNS adds the features listed on its product page. Acceptable use is covered by our acceptable use policy.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend a service for non-payment (after notice and a grace period), for abuse (see the abuse policy), or where a registry, registrar or law requires it. Billing suspension and abuse suspension are separate, and we always tell you which one applies and why. You may close your account at any time; domains stay yours to transfer out.
9. Liability
We provide services with reasonable skill and care, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the affected service in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data where you had the ability to keep your own backups.
Liability caps and consumer-law carve-outs must be confirmed by counsel for India (DPDP / Consumer Protection Act) and the EU/UK if we sell there at launch.
10. Changes
If we materially change these terms we will email account holders and post the change here with a new "last updated" date before it takes effect.
11. Governing law
Before launch: state the governing law and dispute venue, matching where the company is registered.
